Slobodan Velikic forklarer:

There are many ways to experience Mini Transat. Some sailors have big sponsors, so while they prepare for the regatta they sleep in a hotel and train with a coach.

I am aiming for the basics – sleeping in the boat during all practices and qualification regattas and cutting costs as much as possible.

For the full Mini Transat project, the minimum costs are:

•  2nd hand boat, up to 10 years old – 37 000 USD

•  Marina berthing for 2 years – 6 000 USD

•  Entries for qualification regattas for 2 years including Mini Transat – 6 000 USD

•  Carrier transport of the boat from Guadelupe to Europe – 6 000 USD (or sailing with a donor?)

•  Food, transport costs and sailing basics (sail repairs, basic boat refit) for 2 years -10 000 USD

Total minimum cost for 2 year project – 65 000 USD.

I am hoping crowdfunding will help cover the biggest part of the cost of the boat, while the rest should come (keeping my fingers crossed!) through corporate sponsors and my own future savings.

Ruten i Mini-Transat sejladsen.
